About me.
I believe that we carry our life experiences in our bodies and hearts, and this imprint is like the soil which can slowly start to nourish us once we begin to relate with it. We can learn to live not from the difficult imprints of the things that happened to us - but from the health of a deeper nature that exists in us. Our resilience.
I am a first generation immigrant and was a refugee for my most of my childhood. I have first hand experienced the effects of war, trauma, and what takes to heal and become resilient.
My longing to find home, belonging and emotional health led me into the healing arts - I was pulled by the call of “what helps us heal our hearts, minds and bodies?”. How do we integrate and include our suffering (mental, emotional, physical, spiritual) and see it as an expression of our energy - our life force and vitality - instead of as simply disease - in a world where we have all and continue to encounter much challenge and imbalance. This is the question I hold and work with.
I got my BA with Honours from the University of Toronto (2011) and studied as a Naturopathic Doctor (Toronto, 2017) , later moving into psychotherapy and emotional healing with Expressive Arts Therapy (CREATE Institute, Toronto).
I graduated as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in 2023 in Edinburgh, Scotland and am part of Somatic Experiencing International.
I now assist SE trainings in Belgrade, Serbia and work with clients online and in person.
My story and work is to serve others to come into this deeper relationship with their stories, bodies and resilience through nervous system and trauma healing.
I am particularly interested in working with women, mothers, ancestral wounds, attachment and developmental trauma, as well as using the expressive arts.
Thank you for landing here,
Spomenka
